About My Photo Gallery
A
few of my favorite places to take my cameras are listed here. Watch for
holiday, seasonal and just random additions to my Photo Galleries.
Muttart Conservatory
sits in the Edmonton river valley. There are four glass
pyramids that contain plants from around the world. It provides a year round
place for me to enjoy my photography hobby. The seasons inside are not quite in
sync with the outside. In February, when we have subzero temperatures outside,
spring is just arriving inside. One pyramid is a show pavilion. It changes with the seasons and holidays. In
January, The Hearts of Edmonton was created.
Devonian
Gardens is about an hours drive southwest of Edmonton. It was
established in 1959 by the University of Alberta. Its plant collections serve as
a repository for Alberta and the world.
One of my favorite areas is the Patrick Seymour Alpine Garden. A whole day is
almost enough time to visit the Gardens, unless of course I have my camera with
me.
Elk Island National Park
is a short drive east of Edmonton, on the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16).
Canada's only completely fenced National Park sits in the transition between the
aspen parkland and the boreal forest.
I've talked with European visitors who believe this is true
wilderness. When I lay back in my canoe, in the middle of Astotin Lake and
listen to the loons calling, I close my eyes and I just might agree with them. If
you can visit during the middle of the week, it may seem like you have the park
all to your self.
